With over 25 years of experience, we are pioneers in smart metering and our current G3 Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) device is our Fourth Generation Fixed Network product.

We use a range of technologies and have extensive knowledge of every stage in the value chain: from processing, monitoring, transmitting and analysing the data on our Portal.

The Role

In this role, you will play a key part in our project delivery team as an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR/AMI) Engineer.

You will be field based, installing Smart/Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) Devices as part of some exciting projects with the Big Water Companies operating in the UK.

You will also have the opportunity to learn and gain qualifications for wider IoT Smart Metering installations including: Gas, Electric, Heat, Air Quality and much more!

Additional tasks include ongoing maintenance and helping customers meet challenges around managing their consumption.

You’ll be working to complete appointments, through our in-house planning system via company provided tablet/laptop.

The role will see you travel across the UK via Van/Public Transport and there is also potential overnight stays to fit around workloads and in these instances, accommodation and a meal allowance is paid by the company.

MTS will supply all the equipment you need to carry out the role from Uniform/ PPE to fully expensed Company Van.

 

Role Responsibilities

Complete installation and maintenance appointments by:

  • Positively engaging with both customers and public
  • Locating required water meters
  • Lifting meter pit lids using key bar tools
  • Programming the AMR Device using PC/Tablet and Transceiver
  • Fitting the AMR Device to the meter
  • Fitting REPEATERs to street furniture (lamp posts or similar).
  • Installing and configuring Local Private Network (in clients Offices etc.).
  • Recording installation information on tablet or paper
  • Adherence to all Health & Safety requirements as instructed

 

Requirements

No previous Smart Metering experience is required (earn while you learn)!

We’re looking for quick learners and individuals who are willing to go above and beyond for our customers. Full on the job training will be given.

  • Full Driver’s License and willingness to travel
  • Great organisational skills, able to manage multiple deliverables in a fast pace environment
  • PC literate
  • Self-motivated, innovative and a team player
  • Polite and able to communicate with clients and the public
  • Willing to learn new skills on the job and gain supporting qualifications

Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check
